Row Row Your Boat

Amazing! We have been singing this rhyme for over 150 years!

Ooo ooo ooo! We love monkeying around Down in the Jungle, when we arrive we row down the long Amazon river to the song “Row Row Row Your Boat”.

Did you know... these lyrics were first printed in the US in 1852, although the original author is unknown. A completely different tune was first sung with the rhyme.

The tune we sing today was published in 1881 in Franklin Square Song Collection and American teacher and author Mr Eliphalet Oram Lyte is credited next to the melody we sing today.

Extra Fun Fact:

On his album 101 Gang Songs (1961), Bing Crosby included the song in a medley, he also sang it as part of a round with his family during his concert at the London Palladium in 1976. It can be found on the album "Bing Crosby Live at the London Palladium".
